The petroleum products imports statistics for the first quarter of 2017 reflects that 4.05 billion litres of premium motor spirit (PMS), 1.13 billion litres of automotive gas oil (AGO) and 41.06 litres of house hold kerosene (HHK) valued at N566.96 billion, N186.56 billion and N5.92 billion respectively were imported into the country in Q1, 2017.
According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, the month of March recorded the highest volume of PMS and AGO imported into the country at 1.63 billion litres and 504.59 million litres valued at N218.88 million and N70.28 million respectively while the highest volume of HHK imported in the country was in January 2017 with 27.82 million litres valued at N4.07 billion.
State wide distribution of truck-out volume for Q1, 2017 showed that 4.81 billion litres of PMS, 1.31 billion litres of AGO and 233.43 million litres of HHK were distributed nationwide during the period under review.
The data revealed that Lagos state had the highest number of truck-out to 22,883 with 808,509,014 litres of PMS while Yobe state had the least of 229 trucks at 11,396,952 litres. AGO also had Lagos state as the highest at 17,334 trucks with 433,207,179 litres while Yobe state had the least standing at 23 trucks with 1,009,000 litres.
For HHK, Delta state recorded the highest number of 1,478 trucks with 37,590,373 litres and Taraba state had least of 1 truck with 33,000 litres.
Total number of PMS truck-out stood at 124,675 with 4,814,229,715 litres for Q1 of 2017 while AGO recorded 42,140 trucks and 1,311,641,597 litres for the quarter.
